I love to compete. If you don't play to win then you shouldn't play the game. Track and Field is a big part of my life and drives me to succeed in other aspects of life. One of the best feelings in life is seeing an obstacle and then breaking through that obstacle because you were steadfast and kept pushing until you couldn't push anymore.

I wanted to be an Ironman! I like to swim, biking is OK, and running just isn't for me, but figured what the heck! I hit the register button and the rest is history. I crossed the finish line for Ironman NYC in 11 hours and 45 min on Aug 11, 2012. My goal was to finish. I'm already signed up for #2 in 2013 and looking forward to it!

My passion is holistic health - mind, body, and spirit. I'm not one to stick to one form of exercise - I believe in changing things up to keep things challenging, my mind fresh, and my body moving. Two years ago, I started crossfit and haven't looked back. I balance crossfit with yoga and incorporate outdoor activities when the weather is nice.

If you would have told my family and friends that when I grew up I'd be a fitness and health professional, they would have thought you were CRAZY! I was lazy, stubborn, and I loved my junk food. It wasn't until I had my two children, losing my father to heart disease, and feeling overall lousy did I get that wake up call. I had to make a change to teach my children a healthy way of living.

I competed in cross country and track in high school and college, but then took a 3 year hiatus. While attending graduate school, I got the running bug again. I started with Running Wild's weekly fun runs and after a few months made it on their road racing team. I'm coaching my 3rd year of high school cross country and track at Westminster Academy.
